This section is dedicated to the gathering, the compilation and the establishment of a database that will allow the improvement of the knowledge of certain practices and phenomenons, the development of models and studies and, the production of tools and guides.
Several types of data will be collected :
- Historical and anthropological : systematic searches will be carried out in the departmental archives of Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud; the archivio di Stato di Genova; the archivio di Stato di Pisa; private collections; and ethno-documents, oral testimonies, cartographic material and documentaries will be collected to enhance knowledge of the fires that have taken place in Corsica and about the practices related to fire and its control in traditional Corsican society.
- On fires that have occurred in Corsica : data directly related to fires that have occurred in Corsica (outbreak point, fire contours) and contextual data (type of vegetation, topology, if available: climatic data, wind and weather history on the period of propagation, particular conditions, history of firefighting, significant issues) will be collected from all firefighting and land-use planning operational staff and completed with satellite images.
- Experimental : chemical, thermal, ecological data and drone images will be recorded during both supervised and experimental burns.
- Literature : data related to the process of convection, eruptive fires and criteria for the non-propagation of a fire will be collected through bibliographic research and by exchanging on these points with fire-fighting and land-use operators.
