Section 2: Data processing and analysis

This section is dedicated to the improvement of knowledge on certain practices and mechanisms related to wildfires based on the data compiled in section 1.
This knowledge will be used to carry out studies and to support the further tool development, to improve and/or to validate models that will be integrated into decision support tools.

• Historical study on the evolution of plant cover in Corsica and agrarian practices
• Anthropological analysis of the knowledge and know-how related to fire and its control in traditional Corsican society and its evolution
• Improvement of the understanding of the mechanisms associated with eruptive fires and the characteristics of non-propagating vegetation fires
• Processing and analysis of thermal, chemical and ecological data
• Development of algorithms for the estimation of risky situations
• Development of drone geolocation programmes for the detection of fire hotspots
